Throughout her life, Yue-Sai Kan has been involved with a variety of efforts designed to improve access to education around the world. In China, not only did she raise funds to build an elementary school in Lipu, she also built libraries in several rural areas. Yue-Sai has also created several scholarships—some of which she established with her own money—granting access to higher education. For example, she created a scholarship program at Peking University to give women greater access to the institution. In the United States, she generously funded scholarships that opened the doors of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York to several talented Chinese creatives. A passionate supporter of the arts, Yue-Sai even created film scholarships to empower women to create movies that address societal and women’s issues in China.
The Yue-Sai Kan One World Foundation continues this mission from a slightly different angle by educating viewers about the rich diversity of cultures, peoples, and places around the world.
